What counts as a "message"?
Every prompt you send to Kai counts as one message. Module-internal calls (when a module talks to its own backend) don't count. Token-heavy operations stay on the same meter — we route through the free-first cascade so your cost stays flat.
What's a "build"?
A build is a finished module deployment — Kai takes your spec and ships a working CRM, billing system, project tool, etc. Builds are bundled into your tier; we never charge per-build (the council voted 10.0/10 unanimous on that).
What happens if I exceed my limits?
You don't get cut off. We charge $0.50 per 1,000 extra messages and $5 per heavy build, billed at end of month. You can cap overage in your account settings if you want a hard limit.
Can I bring my own LLM keys?
Yes. Starter and above support BYO keys (Groq, OpenAI, Mistral, Anthropic, etc.). Your messages on your keys don't count against your monthly limit.
Is there a free trial for paid tiers?
The Free tier is the trial. 1,000 messages and 5 builds gives you enough to know if MeterCall fits before you commit. No credit card required to start.
What if I want a per-call meter instead?
Per-call is available on Enterprise — talk to Sales. For everyone else, predictable monthly tiers are simpler and almost always cheaper at real-world usage.
